About Steve

Steve is passionate about writing simple songs of worship for the Church to sing together. Serving within the same congregation for over twenty years, his music was born within the worshiping life of his church. In that liturgical context, which celebrates a wide variety of musical styles, Steve responded to the congregation’s needs, writing new music for various liturgical seasons and moments in the life of the local body.

For years, people would ask, “Where can I find a recording of that song?” The answer was always, “Um, nowhere. It’s never been recorded.”

But then in 2024, Steve brought together many of the musicians and worship leaders he has worked with over the years for a live recording project of 21 songs he has written over the last two decades. The result of that project was two albums:

A Light To Allreleased in Advent 2024

There is One Bodycoming in early 2025

Steve is also an experienced choral director and singer, completing a Master of Music in Choral Studies at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom. He sings as a member of The St. Charles Singers, a professional ensemble he has been a part of since 2009.

With a firm belief that something powerful happens when people lift their voices in worship together, Steve seeks to write songs of worship that release the full breath and voice of the congregation. He loves leading and writing alongside his worship-leading friends, which means a lot of his music is built for the harmony of other voices (and often a choir!).

An Anglican Priest in the Diocese of the Upper Midwest within the Anglican Church in North America, Steve has experience as a Worship Pastor, Executive Pastor, and Rector (Senior Pastor). He now works for the Center for Pastor Theologians, supporting church leaders from various denominations across the U.S.

Steve is married to Janna, a professional pianist and teacher. They live in the western suburbs of Chicago with their four teenage/adult children who are growing up way too fast.
